Karstens is widely considered the 3rd best pitcher of the group returned in the Nady/Marte deal. After a complete game, 2 hit shutout and near perfecr game. Does yesterdays outing change your opinion of the Nady/Marte deal? Does the fact he has not allowed a run in 15+ innings with the Pirates help any?
As I said after his first start, a 20 mph difference between a breaking ball and a fastball makes for a tough pitcher to hit.
Only time will tell if these have been two flukes or if he can be relied upon to be a stopper in the rotation.
One thing is certain, the Pirates now have some options for the rotation.
