Wilson to DL, Bixler to Short

The big news of the day is, for the first time in his career, Jack Wilson has been placed on the DL. Brian Bixler was recalled from Indy to take Wilson's spot at SS.

Wilson is suffering from a calf muscle strain he suffered in game 2 of the Marlins series. The Pirates hand forced them to make a move due to the day-to-day status of Freddy Sanchez. The team could not handle 2 gimpy middle infielders.

BTW Take:
Bixler is a steady, but unspectacular defensive shortstop. He makes the plays he should and has a very strong arm from deep in the hole. Offensively he has a good eye and makes good contact with more power than Wilson.
He should see a lot of playing time in his "cup of coffee" with the Pirates. Expect him to struggle, but it will be a good experience and should help when he is ready to make the jump permanently.
