The 24-year-old lefthander is making his seventh start of the season tonight...He has won four of his first five decisions.
Gorzelanny won a 4-2 decision over Dave Bush in Milwaukee last Thursday...He surrendered single runs in the 3rd and 6th innings and was trailing 2-0 before the Pirates scored four times ini the 7th...Matt Capps tossed a perfect 8th inning and Salomon Torres retired three of the four batters he faced in the 9th to record his ninth save.
Tom allowed a season-high five runs in 6.0 innings of work while losing an 8-1 decision to Cincinnati’s Matt Belisle at PNC Park on 4/28.
THE LINEUP CARD:
Gorzelanny has held opponents to an .098 average (5-for-51) during the first time through the opponents lineup this season...The opposition is hitting .356 (16-for-45) the second time through, .267 (12-for-45) the third time through and .333 (1-for-3) the fourth time through the lineup.
