TODAYS STARTER:
ZACH DUKE:
The 24-year-old lefthander is making his seventh start of the 2007 season this evening...He has lost his last two decisions.

LAST START:
Zach allowed two runs in 6.2 innings of work but received a no-decision in Pittsburgh's 3-2 win over Chicago Monday night at PNC Park...He allowed one run in the first inning and fell behind 2-0 after two frames...Z-man left the game with the bases loaded and two outs in the 7th before Jonah Bayliss retired the only batter he faced.

BACK ON TRACK: Zach has allowed a total of three earned runs in his last two starts (13.2ip)...In his first three starts he posted a 9.00 ERA (19.0ip/19er) while opponents hit at a .400 clip against him...Opposing batters are hitting at a .264 clip (14-for-53) against Duke in his last two outings.

THAT'S A WINNER:
The Pirates are 4-2 in games that Duke has started this season...He has received a total of 12 runs of support while he is on the mound in his first six starts...Pittsburgh has scored three runs or less with him on the mound in five of Zach's six starts this year (the club scored four runs with him on the mound on 4/8 at Cincy).

TROUBLE IN THE FIRST:
Duke has allowed 11 first inning runs in his last four starts...He has posted a 16.50 ERA (6.0ip/11er) in his first inning of work and a 3.71 ERA (26.2ip/11er) after the first inning this season.

FOR STARTERS:
Zach was tabbed as Pittsburgh's Opening Day starter this year...He allowed two runs in 7.0 innings but had a no-decision in Pittsburgh's 4-2 win at Houston.

DUKE vs. MILWAUKEE:
2007:
0-1 with a 15.75 ERA (4.0ip/7er) in one start...He allowed four first inning runs and lost a 7-5 decision to Jeff Suppan at Miller Park on 4/19.

CAREER:
3-2 with a 4.62 ERA (48.2ip/25er) in eight starts...Last year he went 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA in five starts...He beat Doug Davis on 5/29 at PNC Park and picked up his other win on 9/11 at PNC...His loss last year came on 7/24 at Miller Park after allowing six earned runs in 2.1 innings...He made his major league debut on 7/2/05 @Miller Park and received a no-decision (7.0ip/3er).

TOMORROW'S STARTER:
TONY ARMAS:
The 29-year-old righthander will be making his fifth start of the season tomorrow afternoon...Received a no-decision in his last start; an 8-6 loss to the Cubs at PNC Park Tuesday (6.0ip/6h/2r/2er/1bb/4so)...Has been charged with just three earned runs in his last two starts (11.0ip)...Allowed eight runs in 2.2 innings and lost a 10-2 decision to Randy Wolf at Dodger Stadium on 4/20...Suffered a 7-5 loss to Aaron Harang in Cincinnati on 4/7 in debut with Pirates (4.0ip/6er). ...Was signed as a free agent on 2/1 after spending parts of eight seasons with Montreal/Washington.

vs. MILWAUKEE:
3-0 with a 1.42 ERA (19.0ip/3er) in three career starts, including a 1-0 record and a 0.00 ERA in one start last year...He won an 8-4 decision at Miller Park on 6/4 (6.0ip/2h/1r/0er).

ALL-STAR VOTING:
Beginning May 1st at PNC Park, fans will be able to vote for the players for this year's All-Star Game, which is scheduled to be played at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Tuesday, July 10...A total of eight Pirates are on this year's ballot (Jason Bay, Freddy Sanchez, Jack Wilson, Adam LaRoche, Jose Bautista, Chris Duffy, Xavier Nady and Ronny Paulino)...Voting at PNC Park will continue through June 17...Twenty-one million ballots will be distributed at the 30 Major League ballparks and an additional 1.7 million ballots will be distributed to 95 Minor League Baseball Clubs that are in-season during the balloting period.

Damaso Marte - Tossed a scoreless 9th inning against Chicago on Wednesday...Has made four straight scoreless outings (2.2ip).

Marty McLeary - Made season debut Friday night and surrendered four runs (all scoring on two home runs) in 2.1 innings of relief.

Salomon Torres - Picked up his ninth save Thursday night (third straight)...Has 21 saves in 25 chances since September 1, 2006.
