KYLE DAVIES (RHP,0-1, 6.41 ERA):
Makes his sixth start of the season and his 34th career start (41st game).
This is his third career appearance against the Bucs and first since 2005.
Is in his third Major League season and seventh professional campaign. Decatur, Ga., native was the Braves’ fourth-round selection in the 2001 draft out of Stockbridge High School.
Has averaged 5.1 innings pitched per start, with an average count of 100 pitches per outing.
The Braves are 3-2 in his starts and have averaged 6.2 runs per game when he takes to the mound.
Went without a decision in the Braves’ 6-4 win over the Dodgers on Sunday (5/6). Kyle left the game with two outs and a runner on in the seventh, and the Braves scored five runs in the bottom of the inning.
Did not figure in the decision in his start on 4/29 at COL. Kyle allowed four runs (all in the second inning) in four innings of work. The Braves held a 7-5 lead in the ninth inning, but Bob Wickman suffered his second blown save and Atlanta lost 9-7 in 11 innings.
Suffered his first loss with an 8-7 decision at FLA on 4/23. Allowed two runs in the first and then three more in the fifth, making his exit without recording an out in the fifth. Equaled his career high with six walks in 4+ innings.
Had his scheduled 4/14 start (vs. FLA) called due to rain and went nine days between starts when he pitched on 4/18 vs. CHI. Kyle did not earn a decision. Went 5.1 innings and left with a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning, but the bullpen allowed one of his runners to score, and later allowed the Cubs to take the lead before the Braves won 8-6.
Made his season debut with 6.2 strong innings vs. NYM on 4/8, allowing two runs on back-to-back solo homers in the second inning. Allowed only two other hits in the outing and matched his career high with eight strikeouts (last: 7/30/05 vs. PIT). Had a ND in Atlanta’s 3-2 comeback win.
Was recalled from Richmond (AAA) on 4/4 after Lance Cormier was placed on the disabled list. Was optioned to Richmond on 3/30.
Pitched in five spring training games and posted a 2-0 record with a 2.84 ERA. Opponents hit just .212 off him.
Only spring home run allowed came in a intra-squad Braves’ game.
Posted a 7-4 win at PHI on 3/23, with 6.0 strong innings. Allowed one run on three hits with four Ks.
Pitched in a “B” game on 3/16 and allowed one run in 5.0 IP.
Tossed 4.0 shutout innings on 3/11 at STL.
Struggled through an injury-shortened sophomore season and went 3-7 with an 8.38 ERA.
Severely strained his right groin on 5/15 vs. FLA and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on 5/17.
Underwent surgery to repair his torn groin in a procedure performed by Dr. Bill Meyers on 5/19 in Philadelphia. Was transferred to the 60-day DL on 5/20 and missed a total of 94 team games before he was activated from the 60-day DL on 9/1.
Went 2-3 with a 6.12 ERA in eight starts before his injury, and just 1-4, 13.06 in six September starts after his return.
