The 25-year-old righthander is making his fourth start of the 2007 season this evening.
Ian allowed one run over 7.0 innings of work and won a 3-2 decision against St. Louis’ Anthony Reyes Monday at Busch Stadium...The Pirates scored all three of their runs in the first inning...The Cards loaded the bases in the ninth before Salomon Torres got Albert Pujols to pop out to third base to end the game.
IN SPRING TRAINING:
Snell went 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA (21.0ip/7er) in six Grapefruit League outings (four starts)...He led the club in wins and all National League Grapefruit League pitchers in strikeouts (24).
Ian has worked 7.0 innings in two of his three starts this season...He allowed just two runs in 6.0 innings of work in his 2007 debut on April 3 in Houston but had a no-decision in Pittsburgh’s 3-2 win...He also allowed one run over 7.0 innings in Pittsburgh’s Home Opener vs. St. Louis on 4/9 but lost a 3-0 decision to Braden Looper.
Ian has pitched at least 6.0 innings in each of his first three starts...Since the beginning of the 2006 campaign, Snell has posted a 12-6 record in 20 starts when he pitches 6.0 or more innings. 11 K’s:
Snell struck out 11 Houston batters in his first start of the season on 4/3; the most whiffs by a Bucco pitcher since Kip Wells fanned 12 Philadelphia batters on 7/5/05. ...The club record for most K’s in a game by a righthander is 14, set by Bob Moose on 9/16/69 vs. Philadelphia and matched by Jose DeLeon on 4/16/85 vs. New York.

1-0 with a 5.73 ERA in two starts...He received a no-decision in Pittsburgh’s 7-6 win @PNC Park on 4/11 (5.0ip/6er) and won a 10-6 decision @Dodger Stadium on 9/19 (6.0ip/1er).
1-1 with a 7.50 ERA (18.0ip/15er) in four appearances (three starts)...In addition to the 2006 season, he lost a 6-4 decision to Jeff Weaver @PNC Park on 8/7/05 and received a no-decision (5.0ip/2r) in his start on 9/25/05 @Los Angeles.
The 24-year-old lefthander will be making his fourth start of the season tomorrow afternoon...He came two outs away from a complete game while winning his last start; a 6-1 victory at St. Louis Tuesday afternoon...He tossed 7.0 scoreless innings in his April 10 start and left with a 2-0 lead, but received a no-decision in Pittsburgh’s 3-2, 12-inning loss to the Cardinals at PNC Park (4h/0bb/5so)...Was victorious in his first start; a 5-4 decision over Woody Williams in Houston on 4/4 (5.0ip/3r/2er)...Went 0-2 with a 7.96 ERA in seven Grapefruit League games (26.0ip/28h/26r/23er/15bb/23so)...Was named the club’s Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Year in 2006 after going 6-5 with a 2.35 ERA in 16 starts with Indy.
