The 24-year-old lefthander is making his third start of the season today...He led the Bucs with 26.0 innings pitched this spring.
Tom twirled 7.0 scoreless innings and left the game with a 2-0 lead but came away with a no-decision in Pittsburgh’s 3-2, 12-inning loss last Tuesday vs. St. Louis at PNC Park...He retired his last eight batters before exiting the contest...St. Louis scored twice in the ninth off Pirates closer Salomon Torres to tie the score before winning in 12.
IN THE SPRING:
Gorzelanny went 0-2 with a 7.96 ERA in seven Grapefruit League games (five starts)...He was scored upon in the 1st inning in all five of his starts.
In his last 10 starts, dating back to July 23 of last season, Tom has been charged with 16 earned runs in 62.0 innings of work (2.32 ERA)...In that time, he has pitched at least 6.0 innings seven times.
Gorzelanny picked up his first major league win in Pittsburgh’s 4-3 victory over the Giants at PNC Park on 7/29/06...He surrendered a two-out run in the 1st inning and another two-out run in the 5th before leaving after 7.0 innings of work with a 4-2 lead (SF scored once in the 9th off Mike Gonzalez, who registered his 18th save).
Tom went 6-5 with a 2.35 ERA in 16 Triple-A starts last year...He was Indy’s Opening Day starter and did not allow a run in his first two outings (9.0ip)...He surrendered three runs or less in 13 of his 16 outings and was named Pittsburgh’s Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Year.

0-0 with a 0.00 ERA (7.0ip/0er) in one start...He tossed 7.0 scoreless innings and was in line for the win but had a no-decision in Pittsburgh’s 3-2, 12-inning loss on 4/10 at PNC Park...He retired the last eight batters he faced before giving way to the bullpen...The Cards scored twice in the ninth off Salomon Torres before going on to win the game in 12 innings.
The 24-year-old lefthander will be making his third start of the season tomorrow evening...His first start of the campaign was a 6-1 loss to Matt Belisle in Cincinnati on 4/6 (5.0ip/7h/4r/4er/2bb/2so)...He also had a no-decision (5.0ip/2r/2er) in his start last Wednesday vs. St. Louis...Went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in four Grapefruit League starts this year (18.2ip/7er)...Spent first major league season with the Bucs last year and went 8-10 with a 4.76 ERA in 30 starts.
1-0 with a 3.86 ERA (14.0ip/6er) in two starts last year...He had a no-decision in Pittsburgh’s 4-3 walkoff win on 6/1 at PNC Park...He also won an 8-4 decision (7.0ip/4er) on 7/26 at Miller Park...2-0 with a 2.45 ERA (22.0ip/6er) in three career starts...He made his major league debut in Milwaukee on 8/30/05...He tossed 8.0 scoreless innings and picked up the win.
