Post-Game Notes

4 Down, 77 to Respectability!

The Pirates bounced back from two lackluster performances in the first two games of the series in Cincinnati by posting a solid 6-3 win in temperatures Alaskans looked down to. (Anchorage was in the 40's today when I checked)

Zach Duke pitched 6 solid innings, looking like the ace of the staff, before getting roughed up in the 7th. His final line was 6 innings pitches allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits and no walks. The key was the no walks and a defense that got back to the solid play we saw in Houston.

Freddy Sanchez made a triumphant return to the lineup going 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Sanchez's RBI along with a RBI from Brad Eldred's double and Jack Wilson'd 2 run line drive homer put the Pirates ahead 4-0 through 6 innings.

The Reds rallied for 3 in the bottom of the 7th before Big Country Brad Eldred went yard in the 8th and Jason Bay capped the scoring with a solo shot in the 9th.

Matt Capps and Salomon Torres silenced the Reds potent lineup over the last 2 1/3 innings allowing Torres to pick up his 4th save in 4 attempts.

Radio Edit:
I have to admit I love listening to Marty Brennaman. He has a distinctive style that makes the listener feel like he is having a beer and listening to his buddies talk about the game. Even though he is a homer for the Reds, if you have a chance to listen to a game called by Marty...Listen and enjoy.

Personally I would put Mr. Brennaman on a level with the Great Bob Prince in the way he makes you feel part of the broadcast.

The good news, I now get to listen to Lanny and the boys and enjoy Pirates baseball...There is Noooooo Doubt About It!
