How Sweep It Is...

Even the most optimistic Pirate fan would not have predicted a sweep in the Bucs own House of Horrors known as Minute Made Park. In 2006 the Pirates did not win a game in Houston, fortunately it is 2007.

The Pirates finished off the sweep with a 5-4 victory. Apparently they have made enough noise in this young season to get some talk time on ESPN.

Tom Gorzelanny pitched a palatable game working his way out of a bases loaded jam allowing one run in the 4th inning when it could have been much worse. His final line was 5 IP, 7 hits and 2 earned. He, and the bullpen, only gave up one free pass continuing a trend by the staff of not walking batters.

The bullpen, led by Chacon, did another fine job in shutting down the Astros. Chacon went two flawless followed by one from Matt Capps. Torres closed things out allowing a 9th inning solo home run.

Jose Bautista went 3 for 5 driving in three and scoring one while playing a very nice third base. He scored the last run of the game on a Adam Everett error.

Gorzelanny earned the win and Torres picked up his third save of the season after giving up the 9th inning solo homer.

Radio Free Edit:
The Houston broadcasters made the claim that Jack Wilson is not as good of a fielder as Adam Everett, but he is a sneaky good fielder. Huh?
