Post-Game Notes

2 down with 79 to go.
Another come from behind win for the Pirates. This time a 3-2 win over the Astros to start the season 2-0 in a park they went winless in during the 2006 season.

Another good start, this time by Ian Snell who allowed 2 runs over 6 innings work. He had a career high 11 strikeouts while keeping his pitch count down throwing only 86 pitches with 59 strikes.

Ronny Paulino delivered a key single in the 8th to tie the game.

Xavier Nady shines again with a solo shot to start the scoring in the 2nd and a single in the 8th to give the Pirates a 3-2 lead.

Jonah Bayless earns the win and Salomon Torres gets his second save of the year.

Random Thoughts:
LaRoche seems to be pressing, either that or he is struggling with the cleanup hitter role. Five strikeouts and no hits in two games, not a good start for Lefty McThump.

The pitching staff has looked good in the first two games giving up 2 walks and allowing 4 runs. The defense has played well also. Jack made a nice tag on the caught stealing in the 7th.

Nady seems to be settling in nicely in RF, it looks like he may have found his stroke again. It is good to see him healthy.

Slide Notes:
Brad Lincoln had Tommy John Surgery today. Another one bites the dust. He should be ready to throw in time for the 2008 season, but don't expect him to be back to normal until 2009.

Freddy Sanchez is planning on be ready for the home opener.
