Pirates Sign Another Cuban Pitcher

In what seems to be becoming a trend, the Pirates have signed pitcher Alay Soler. Soler is the third Cuban defector signed by the Pirates in 2007.

Soler is described as low risk signing and a player the Pirates people liked "a little bit". He has had success in the low minors for the Mets and pitched well for the Cuban National Team. He struggled in limited experience in AAA and MLB.

It is rumored talks are under way to sign Fidel Castro as a PR man for Robert Nutting.
